Our Story
At First Encounter LLC, our journey began with a vision to transform unproductive land into a thriving oyster farm, rooted in family values and a deep commitment to sustainability. What started as a humble family farm soon blossomed into a testament to resilience and dedication.
As the land we initially utilized became unproductive, we saw an opportunity to embark on a new chapter in oyster farming. The first step was to secure a new location where we could nurture oysters from seed size, a mere 4-6 millimeters, to market size over a span of 3-4 years. This process required meticulous care and attention to detail at every stage of growth.
Guided by an experienced farmer in the new area, we were mentored on the intricacies of cultivating oysters to market size. Learning from their expertise, we honed our skills and embraced the challenges of oyster farming with determination and passion.
Throughout the journey, we implemented multiple steps and actions to ensure the optimal growth of the oyster seed. From maintaining a consistent seed size to carefully placing them in bags and cages, every aspect of our farming process was designed to foster even growth over the three to four-year cycle.
